歌詞は、かつての出来事に長い間傷心に暮れている様子です。
心に長いことぽっかり空いている穴がなかなか修復できないまま、ずきずきと痛んでいる感じを表しています。
訳注
It's a place where a garden never grows（庭園が決して大きくならない場所）や
your love's like a thorn without a rose（バラのないとげのようだ）
はほぼそのまま訳していますが、
一応説明すると、上は心の穴のことを指していて、いくら時間をかけても草木が生えない場所になってしまうってくらい修復できない穴のようだ、って感じで
下は、愛がとげそのもので、相手を想うこと自体辛いというような感じです。
